LIFE LESSONS SERIES: "GOD IS LIFE"

My Mother, Evangelist and Prophetess Mattie V. Hollis, used to say "If you know what IT IS, then you know what IT ISN'T!" GOD IS...GOD IS LIFE...GOD IS LOVE...GOD IS GOOD! It's like no thing exists outside of who GOD IS! LIFE is! LOVE is because GOD created all things. In Exodus 3, Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro his father in law, who was also the priest of Midian. Moses led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. Its very interesting that Moses was keeping the flock to show his natural and spiritual high calling, chosen of God to also lead His children out of bondage. The angel of the LORD appeared to Moses in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. Moses turned aside looking to see "this great sight, why the bush is not burnt." " When the LORD saw that Moses turned aside to see, GOD called to Moses out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. Moses said, "Here am I." GOD said, "Draw not nigh hither: out off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground." GOD said, "I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God." God continued saying in verses 7 and 8, "I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of the taskmasters; for I know their sorrows. And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites." In verses 9 and 10, God says, "Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharoah, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt." Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go unto Pharoah, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?" In verse 12, God said to Moses, "Certainly, I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain." Moses said unto God, "Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you, and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?" And God said unto Moses, "I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shall thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you." Furthermore, God said to Moses, "Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations." Isaiah 45:5 says, I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:" GOD IS, I AM. The Holy scriptures, God's Holy Word, teaches us of who God is! Life is not death and love is not hate, and good is not evil. Death, hate and evil pertain to the sinful nature of man and doesn't exist of GOD or in GOD. He is perfect and holy! If you know what IT IS, then you know what IT ISN'T. GOD IS...and HE IS all that HE IS!!! He is LIFE! My brother Elder Nate Hollis wrote a song titled, "A.L.L. T.H.A.T." an acronym for, And Let Love Touch and Heal All Things. LOVE is GOD and GOD is LOVE. We really cannot say, GOD IS LIFE and then ask if He's the opposite of what HE says HE IS. The opposite doesn't exist in GOD!! GOD IS! If we know what IT IS, then we know what IT ISN'T. Death, hate, darkness and evil do not exist in nor of GOD! Death, hate, darkness and evil were created by GOD as a result of man's sinful nature and state of disobedience and not used to define or determine that GOD is or is not everything as we can understand of HIS existence! Let's all remember Genesis 1:31, "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good..." HE is LIFE! HE is LOVE! HE is GOOD! HE is OMNISCIENT, OMNIPRESENT, OMNIPOTENT. It's like saying GOD IS and anything/everything else opposite, ISN'T! Nothing exists opposite of GOD! 1 John 1:5 says, "⁵ This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." Everything about GOD is LIFE, LOVE, LIGHT AND GOOD! Psalm 139 says, "Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee." GOD IS, I AM! Congregational song says, Walk in the light, beautiful light; come where the dew drops of mercy shine bright; shine all around us by day and by night, JESUS, the Light of the world!"
