"Don't" -Rock the Boat, Make Waves, or Go Against the Grain!

How many times have we heard, "things are fine just the way they are" or "that's just not the way we do things, here." As I watched several videos of King Charles III's coronation recently, one video in particular stood out to me. I was viewing and reviewing the video of Prince Harry arriving at the coronation. While watching the video, Prince Harry was entering the Westminster Abbey in London, United Kingdom, and I noticed his stroll and demeanor which was pretty laid back, if you will, relaxed, cheerful, stately, respectful, and honorable as he greeted several people while walking down the aisle. I also noticed some of the facial expressions of the people which I would describe as uncomfortable, stiff-necked, puffed-up, and perhaps haughty, formal, and stilted as they looked upon Prince Harry walking down the middle aisle to his seat. I continued to watch more of the video courtesy of Newsweek-Prince Harry's entrance, I heard the popular idiom in my mind, "Don't rock the boat." I began to chuckle and giggle a little and decided to ask my brother, what comes to your mind when you hear the phrase, "don't rock the boat?" He replied with another idiom, "don't make waves." Another idiom similar in meaning is "go against the grain." If we say we appreciate growth and we advocate and promote people to be who they are, why do these idioms strike up so much discomfort, stress, anxiety, and even violence in people? In American society, diversity is supposed to be celebrated. Let me dare to distinguish, though, moral wrongs and criminal behavior which some define as "going against the grain" or "rocking the boat", but they are not the same as diversity nor are they associated with these idioms and thus do not apply. Clearly, it is not immoral to be brown skin in America, or Asian, Indian, etc. It may be considered "rocking the boat" to fight against racism in America. These idioms can also be considered as "good trouble" as defined by John Lewis who stated, "I want to see young people in America feel the spirit of the 1960's and find a way to get in the way. To find a way to get in trouble. Good trouble, necessary trouble. Young people can and should push for transformative change and hold us accountable to it." This is what "rocking the boat", "making waves", and "going against the grain" is all about. Promoting growth, renaissance, and renewal in the most significant way and should be expected. Change is a constant. Discriminatory laws which target and oppress particular ethnic groups of people in any society must be challenged because they violate humanity. Respectfully, the monarchy of the United Kingdom has been challenged and is under a bit of scrutiny. Some have shared their feelings and facts about the history of oppression which the monarchy has inflicted on numerous countries. Others have also discussed how Princess Diana "didn't fit the mold" of royalty because she was herself, which I considered amazing and lovingly humane. Now people are talking about Prince Harry and Megan Markle (Duke and Duchess of Sussex), who have been in the front pages and front stories of news for quite a while now. At the time of their wedding or even at the announcement of their union, their royalty immediately was under fire and called into question, mainly because of the ethnicity of Megan Markle and the "rocking the boat" or "going against the grain" behavior of Prince Harry, I believe. It's refreshing to see the personalities of "royalty" which some have deemed as "rocking the boat", "going against the grain" or "making waves". I always wondered, "why were Prince Harry and Megan Markle not immediately embraced or considered royalty because of how they expressed who they are and their choices to be themselves...human?" They have been labeled as "troublemakers" and almost put to shame for their "good trouble". Do you consider them both as integral members of the royal family? Have your thoughts or feelings been altered in any way by news stories and reports about Prince Harry and Megan Markle? I would like to know your thoughts. It still seems as if some members of the monarchy family and people of United Kingdom consider Prince Harry an outcast. I do like the way he is showing "humanity"! No one is "larger than LIFE" as GOD is all LIFE!!!!!!! --Please comment on this blog, if you'd like to share your thoughts.
